Petronas, Petros Fine-Tuning Details On Gas Aggregator Role

KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Bernama) -- Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is working closely with the federal government, Sarawak government as well as Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) on the details of the future arrangement regarding Petros’s role as the state’s gas aggregator.

In a statement, Petronas said this is to ensure that the rights and interests of all parties, including the end-customers and investors, are addressed accordingly.

“Utmost consideration will always be given to ensuring certainty in the investment climate,” it said in a reply to Bernama’s query on recent news reports stating otherwise on cooperation between Petronas and Petros.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently said the federal government will meet the Sarawak state government to detail the scope of cooperation between Petros and Petronas.

He said the discussion is to explore the cooperation to be undertaken by both companies involving any new projects in any field.

Last month, Anwar said Petronas would uphold all its domestic and international contractual obligations while Petros would act as Sarawak's gas aggregator under a 2016 state ordinance on gas distribution beginning March 1.
