PayNet Committed To Boosting Cashless Adoption With e-Payment Ecosystem

 KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) remains committed to working closely with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and industry players to advance cashless adoption through a secure and inclusive e-payment ecosystem. 

Group chief executive officer Farhan Ahmad said this cooperation has driven key milestones, highlighting that the number of DuitNow QR touchpoints has surpassed 2.7 million nationwide, making e-payments more accessible for consumers and small businesses.

“Malaysia’s digital payments ecosystem has advanced rapidly, powered by industry-wide collaboration.

“In 2024, PayNet processed transactions worth almost four times Malaysia’s gross domestic product, reflecting the scale and trust in the ecosystem,” he said at the Malaysian e-Payments Excellence Awards (MEEA) 2025 today.

Also present was BNM Governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour. 

The MEEA 2025, themed “Leading Progress, Recognising Impact”, recognises organisations that have helped make digital payments the norm for Malaysians everywhere.

This year’s MEEA recognised 30 recipients across 22 award categories for their exceptional leadership, innovation and impact in shaping Malaysia’s digital payments ecosystem. 

Honourees included financial institutions, businesses, fintechs, and, for the first time, media outlets.
