TII Unveils Arabic AI Model Setting Performance Benchmark

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 (Bernama) -- The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has launched Falcon-H1 Arabic, a newly developed large language model (LLM) built on a hybrid Mamba-Transformer architecture.

According to TII in a statement, the model represents a complete departure from previous transformer-based versions and has emerged as the highest-performing system on the Open Arabic LLM Leaderboard (OALL).

This milestone positions Falcon-H1 Arabic as the leading Arabic artificial intelligence (AI) model currently available, outperforming significantly larger models while delivering state-of-the-art accuracy, context handling, and linguistic representation.

TII Chief Executive Officer, Dr Najwa Aaraj said the development of Falcon-H1 Arabic builds on years of foundational research in Arabic AI and responds directly to the needs of communities, including developers and businesses.

“By advancing architecture, data quality, and long-context reasoning, we are creating enablers that unlock new possibilities in education, healthcare, governance, and enterprise, and more, all in Arabic. This model represents an important step in our mission to deliver world-class AI that serves the region and contributes to global progress,” she added.

Building on the strong reception of the Falcon-Arabic models released earlier this year, TII has expanded its portfolio with the Falcon-H1 Arabic family to address growing demand for high-quality Arabic LLMs.

Available in 3B, 7B, and 34B parameter sizes, the models are designed to meet diverse infrastructure and use-case requirements, with enhancements in data quality, dialect coverage, long-context stability, and mathematical reasoning to enable more accurate and reliable Arabic understanding in real-world applications.

The models also support extended context lengths, allowing users to analyse large volumes of information, such as legal documents, medical records, academic research, and enterprise knowledge bases, within a single interaction without losing context.

TII said its Falcon AI models have consistently ranked at the top of regional and global benchmarks, with Falcon-H1 Arabic now leading the Open Arabic LLM Leaderboard across model sizes, underscoring the United Arab Emirates’ growing capabilities in sovereign AI development and Arabic language innovation.
