4Q 2025 GDP Expected To Show Positive Growth

JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- The nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) for the fourth quarter of 2025, to be announced by the Statistics Department today, is projected to show positive growth.

Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the positive performance is proof that the country’s economy remains on a strong footing.

However, he said the government must continue to be prepared and committed to addressing any economic complexities.

“At the same time, we must stay committed and ensure that we are not exposed to any external geopolitical developments, as 2026 is expected to be a challenging year globally,” he told reporters after officiating the Johor State Early Schooling Assistance Cheque Handover Ceremony here today.

Meanwhile, Akmal Nasrullah said the government must also be prepared for economic uncertainties arising from geopolitical developments, including the conflict between Iran and the United States.

As such, he said the government would strive to ensure that the economy continues to be strengthened so that any geopolitical uncertainties would not have a direct or sudden impact on the domestic economy.

“We need to ensure that our efforts are not only focused on attracting investments,” he said.

He added that the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) must also be carried out with precision and in accordance with its planning, reflecting good governance.
