SEDC Energy Ready For Nationwide BUDI Diesel Rollout
KUCHING, June 29 (Bernama) -- The nationwide implementation of the BUDI MADANI Diesel (BUDI Diesel) subsidy programme, which begins on July 1, is seen as an important step towards strengthening the targeted subsidy mechanism and reducing leakages.
SEDC Energy (SEDCE) chief executive officer Robert Hardin said the programme would also enhance transparency and support the long-term sustainability of the national fuel subsidy framework.
He said SEDCE, which is responsible for developing the downstream petroleum retail business under the PETROS Multifuel Station (MFS) brand, is ready to implement the BUDI Diesel programme across its entire network of service stations.
“SEDCE has gained experience from the initial implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme, which has enabled us to further strengthen operational readiness, staff training and system integration.
“On June 24, SEDCE successfully conducted a live demonstration of its readiness for the implementation of the BUDI MADANI Diesel Programme in conjunction with the visit by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan. The demonstration showcased our system readiness and operational processes to ensure the programme runs smoothly starting July 1,” he told reporters here today.
Commenting further, Hardin said the BUDI Diesel programme would also contribute to a more efficient and sustainable fuel distribution mechanism.
“In the long term, this initiative will support better market stability as well as more responsible fiscal management,” he said.
He added that SEDCE remains committed to ensuring a smooth transition to the implementation of the BUDI Diesel Programme while continuing to deliver the best service throughout the implementation period.
“Eligible consumers and businesses are encouraged to register for the BUDI MADANI Programme and understand its requirements ahead of its implementation this Wednesday.
“We also urge customers to stay updated with official announcements and seek assistance from PETROS MFS staff if guidance is needed,” he added.
To-date, SEDC Energy has commissioned 12 PETROS MFS across Sarawak, located in Darul Hana (Kuching), Daro, Kanowit, Kuala Matu, Brooke Drive (Sibu), Selangau, Tatau, Kapit, Sungai Asap, Jepak, Bintulu and Batu Kawa.
In addition to providing conventional fuel, the flagship stations also offer electric vehicle charging facilities as well as hydrogen refuelling services.
