Tamco-Hoymiles Partnership To Strengthen Malaysia’s Next-Generation Energy Infrastructure
KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Leading power infrastructure solutions provider Tamco and global solar and energy storage innovator Hoymiles formed a strategic partnership today to support the development of Malaysia’s future energy infrastructure, bringing together global energy storage technologies with local industrial expertise.
The first phase of the partnership will see Tamco undertake the local assembly of Hoymiles’ artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced five-megawatt-hour (MWh) and six-MWh liquid-cooled utility-scale battery energy storage solutions at its Shah Alam facility.
"Leveraging Hoymiles' globally deployed energy storage technologies and Tamco's six-decade experience delivering power infrastructure solutions, the collaboration expands Tamco's energy solutions portfolio.
“Simultaneously, it will enable greater local accessibility and support for large-scale energy storage in Malaysia," a Tamco-Hoymiles joint statement with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) said.
MIDA chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the Tamco-Hoymiles collaboration demonstrates how global expertise could complement Malaysian engineering strengths.
At the same time, the partnership also deepens local supply chains, facilitates technology transfer and creates high-value opportunities for local businesses and talent.
"In line with the aspirations of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the National Energy Transition Roadmap, partnerships such as this will strengthen Malaysia's industrial competitiveness while delivering broader economic and socioeconomic benefits for the people," he said.
Meanwhile, Tamco Switchgear (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd CEO Wong Jun Pin said the partnership with Hoymiles is an important step in expanding its solutions, while strengthening the engineering expertise and technical capabilities needed for the country's future energy infrastructure.
“Innovation creates possibilities, but execution and long-term commitment are what transform them into solutions that industries and communities can depend on.
"That belief has guided Tamco for over six decades and will continue to shape how we contribute to Malaysia's evolving energy landscape," said Wong.
At the same time, Hoymiles chief technology officer and vice-president Dr Zhao Yi said the success of advanced energy solutions depends on technology and strong local partnerships.
"Malaysia has built a strong foundation for the future of energy. Tamco's engineering expertise and understanding of the local operating environment have made them an ideal partner to translate our global experience into solutions that deliver value locally," he said.
Beyond local assembly, the partnership also includes system integration, testing, commissioning, servicing and long-term maintenance. It will also progressively expand into technical knowledge exchange, specialist talent development and localisation initiatives.
These efforts will reinforce Malaysia's industrial capabilities and position the country as a regional hub for advanced energy infrastructure, the statement said.
