Selangor-Negeri Synergy Boosts Growth, Can Create New Economic Corridor - Amirudin

SEREMBAN, July 22 (Bernama) -- The synergy in strategic development between Selangor and Negeri Sembilan has the potential to create a new economic corridor capable of boosting the competitiveness of the country's central region through the strengthening of investment networks, high-tech industries and integrated logistics infrastructure.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the geographical proximity of the two states offers a significant advantage in establishing a more competitive cross-border economic ecosystem.
He noted that administrative continuity, coupled with aligned development directions, could accelerate the coordination of various strategic projects, particularly those involving the Sepang corridor in Selangor and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan.
“The southward development trend in Selangor, particularly in Sepang and Kuala Langat, combined with the technology hub and surrounding areas in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, presents an opportunity to develop the localities straddling the two states.
“For instance, the Selangor Aero Park is adjacent to land in Negeri Sembilan, creating a compelling investment proposition. When the governments of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan are aligned, certain issues can be resolved informally without the need for formal negotiations; this is a crucial opportunity that voters should prioritise in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election,” he told Bernama recently.
He said that by combining these strengths, the two states could establish an economic growth corridor capable of attracting high-quality investments, thereby creating more job opportunities for the people.
Amirudin noted that the area's strategic advantage is further bolstered by the presence of KL International Airport (KLIA), major highway networks, and the development of the technology sector, all of which can serve as catalysts for future industrial growth.
He said integrated development between the two states would add value to the manufacturing, logistics, technology, and services sectors, thereby enhancing Malaysia's appeal as a regional investment destination.
On logistics infrastructure, Amirudin noted that the proposed Seremban Bypass holds significant potential to strengthen connectivity between industrial hubs in Negeri Sembilan and major port networks in Selangor.
He added that linkages connecting industrial areas, rail networks and ports, such as Westports, Northport, and the Pulau Carey development, would boost supply chain capabilities and accelerate export activities.
Amirudin said the strategic cooperation between Selangor and Negeri Sembilan reflects a new development approach emphasising inter-state coordination to achieve more sustainable economic growth.
