Eliis, Petronas Sign Joint Industry Project Agreement

KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) -- Advanced seismic interpretation technology provider Eliis has signed a joint industry project agreement (JIPA) with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) to collaborate on the deployment of PaleoScan technology and joint geoscience research and development initiatives in Malaysia.

Under the agreement, Eliis said it will deploy its PaleoScan platform and artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted subsurface interpretation workflows within the Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) technical ecosystem, supported by dedicated technical assistance.

“The collaboration will also encompass joint research and development (R&D) initiatives across selected geoscience domains, with the shared goal of enhancing subsurface understanding and identifying new exploration opportunities in Malaysian waters.

“The partnership is expected to improve seismic interpretation efficiency and geological understanding, advance digital and AI-driven geoscience capabilities, and support Malaysia’s upstream exploration ambitions,” it said in a statement.

Eliis added that the agreement also marks a further strengthening of France-Malaysia collaboration in energy technology and geoscience innovation.
