More Than 4,300 Smallholders Benefited From RM190 Mln Replanting Scheme
PUTRAJAYA, July 29 (Bernama) -- The Smallholder Palm Oil Replanting Financing Incentive Scheme (TSPKS 2.0) implemented by the Plantations and Commodities Ministry (KPK) has benefited 4,364 smallholders involving an area of 12,145.51 hectares (ha) with a total financing of RM190.13 million as of June 30.
Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the programme aims to help smallholders replant oil palm trees that have exceeded their economic lifespan to increase plantation productivity, yield and income.
According to her, the government has approved a total allocation of RM200 million to implement the programme, which comprises RM100 million in 2024, RM50 million in 2025 and RM50 million in 2026.
“From the 2026 allocation, RM47.61 million was approved for 1,133 smallholders until June 30, 2026,” she said in a statement today.
She said the programme’s implementation had contributed to raising Malaysia’s oil palm replanting rate from two per cent in 2024 to 3.4 per cent in 2025.
The ministry will continue to expand TSPKS 2.0, encourage the use of high-quality planting material, empower the services of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board’s TUNAS officers and increase the use of mechanisation and automation to achieve a replanting rate target of at least four per cent annually by 2030.
According to Noraini, smallholders’ participation in groups through the Sustainable Oil Palm Growers Cooperative (KPSM) will also continue to be strengthened.
The ministry also said that replanting is an important investment to ensure higher yields, better income and the survival of the country's oil palm industry.
"KPK remains committed to ensuring that the oil palm industry continues to be productive, competitive and sustainable, while improving the well-being of smallholders," she said.
