Bursa Malaysia Remains Lower At Mid-Morning
KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning, weighed down by continuous selling in selected heavyweights, mainly in the utilities counters.
At 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased by 0.57 points to 1,714.99 from yesterday’s close of 1,715.56.
The benchmark index opened 1.14 points lower at 1,714.42.
The broader market was negative, with losers outpacing gainers 390 to 256, while 387 counters were unchanged, 1,744 untraded and 87 suspended.
Turnover totalled 898.21 million shares worth RM695.20 million.
Among heavyweights, Tenaga Nasional eased eight sen to RM14.52, CIMB shed two sen to RM7.79, and Maybank remained unchanged at RM10.86, while Public Bank added one sen to RM5.16 and IHH Healthcare inched up two sen to RM8.37.
Of the active stocks, Zetrix AI, SNS Network Technology and HHRG slid by half-a-sen each to 70 sen, 53.5 sen and 13 sen, respectively, GIBB was unchanged at 50 sen, while Oriental Kopi Holdings expanded 1.5 sen to 99.5 sen.
As for the top gainers, Nestle advanced RM1.10 to RM97.88, Fraser & Neave Holdings jumped 34 sen to RM27.74, Kuala Lumpur Kepong rose 30 sen to RM21.06, Allianz Malaysia inched up 24 sen to RM21.24, and Hong Leong Bank climbed 12 sen to RM22.16.
Malaysian Pacific Industries led the losers list, falling 46 sen to RM43.66, while UMS Integration shed 30 sen to RM6.70, Hong Leong Industries lost 18 sen to RM17.92, Chin Teck Plantations declined 14 sen to RM10.90, and Petronas Gas slipped 12 sen to RM17.52.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index decreased 6.65 points to 12,666.15, the FBM Top 100 Index inched down 6.81 points to 12,500.36, the FBM Mid 70 Index contracted 21 points to 17,960.63, the FBM Emas Shariah Index tumbled 1.66 points to 12,503.71, and the FBM ACE Index fell 9.31 points to 4,915.40.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index rose 7.49 points to 20,224.46, the Industrial Products and Services Index was marginally higher by 0.44 points to 186.77, the Plantation Index gained 44.82 points to 9,346.74, and the Energy Index improved 0.67 of a point to 761.35.
