GWM Malaysia Delivers Record 3,166 Vehicles In 1H, Up 42.4 Pct

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- GWM Malaysia recorded its highest vehicle deliveries at 3,166 units in the first six months of 2026, up 42.4 per cent year-on-year, securing its position among the top 11 best-selling automotive brands in Malaysia.

The smart technology company said sales momentum accelerated throughout the first half (1H) of the year, increasing from 1,294 units in the first quarter (1Q) to 1,872 units in 2Q, representing a 44.7 per cent quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) increase.

“Growth was driven by strong performance across GWM’s diverse portfolio, including the WEY G9 Hi4 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), which recorded 707 units in 2Q (1Q: 421 units).

“The Haval H6 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) rose to 895 units from 656 units, while the Ora Good Cat electric vehicle (EV) recorded 93 per cent q-o-q growth,” it said in a statement today.

GWM Malaysia managing director of commercial operations, Stan Li Hao, said the company’s first-half performance reflects the growing confidence Malaysians have in GWM's products, technologies and long-term commitment to the market.

“As we enter the 2H of 2026, we remain focused on expanding our product portfolio, strengthening our presence in Malaysia and delivering even greater value to our customers,” he said.

Looking ahead, GWM Malaysia expects positive momentum to continue into the 2H of the year, supported by increasing consumer acceptance of hybrid technologies, an expanding product portfolio and a supportive automotive policy environment.

GWM Malaysia is also preparing to introduce the GWM Ora 5 HEV and GWM Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV, while the GWM Tank 300 HEV is expected to continue gaining momentum as more Malaysians embrace hybrid mobility.

Meanwhile, GWM Malaysia also signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd to deliver smarter and more connected mobility solutions.

It said the collaboration aims to provide GWM customers with a seamless, reliable and secure tolling experience, while advancing Malaysia’s vision for Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) implementation.

As the first initiative under the partnership, every new GWM vehicle booked and registered from Aug 1, 2026 onwards will come equipped with a pre-installed or bundled Touch 'n Go x GWM Branded RFID tag as standard, enabling customers to enjoy a smooth, convenient and cashless tolling experience from day one of ownership.

Chief operating officer Roslan Abdullah said GWM is continuously exploring opportunities to enhance the ownership experience through products, services and strategic collaborations that add meaningful value for its customers.

“Our collaboration with Touch 'n Go reflects that commitment by combining automotive innovation with digital mobility solutions to deliver a more connected, convenient and seamless ownership experience,” he said.

Echoing the view, Touch ‘n Go chief executive officer Praba Sangarajoo said the company is grateful for GWM’s trust and collaboration, and looks forward to delivering a more seamless, reliable and cashless driving experience for customers while supporting Malaysia’s digital mobility aspirations.

In conjunction with the Merdeka and Hari Malaysia celebrations, GWM Malaysia will also launch a nationwide customer campaign running from Aug 1 to Sept 30, 2026.

Customers who book their new GWM vehicle during the campaign period and complete registration by Sept 30, 2026, will be eligible to participate.

Consumers can also look forward to the Ora 5 HEV preview programme at selected GWM dealerships nationwide ahead of the model's official introduction to the Malaysian market.
