Bursa Malaysia Higher At Mid-Morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia stayed higher on mid-morning with buying interspersed with selling in selected heavyweights, as investors remained cautious amid lingering geopolitical uncertainties.

At 11.01 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.03 points higher at 1,727.76 compared with Monday’s close of 1,725.73.

The benchmark index opened 0.21 point higher at 1,725.94.

On the broader market, gainers led losers 479 to 350, while 502 counters were unchanged, 1,405 were untraded, and 16 were suspended.

Turnover totalled 964.98 million shares worth RM769.19 million.

Among the heavyweights, both Maybank and IHH Healthcare fell four sen to RM10.80 and RM8.26, respectively.

Public Bank rose by five sen to RM5.25, CIMB Group was two sen higher to RM8.03, and Tenaga Nasional was unchanged at RM14.50.

Among active stocks, NationGate Holdings rose five sen to RM1.28, Jiankun International inched up 1.5 sen to 6.5 sen, Zetrix AI and VS Industry edged up half a sen each to 73 sen and 23.5 sen, respectively, and HHRG ticked up one sen to 12.5 sen.

Leading gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries, which climbed RM1.58 sen to RM47.60, Fraser & Neave added 38 sen to RM27.88, Kuala Lumpur Kepong gained 34 sen to RM21.34, UMS Integration was 23 sen higher to RM7.69, and Kelington Group rose by 22 sen to RM8.42.

On the losers’ list, Nestle shed 80 sen to RM101.90, United Plantations fell 24 sen to RM33.96, Petronas Gas and Hong Leong Industries slid 16 sen each to RM17.30 and RM17.84, respectively, while Gas Malaysia eased 10 sen to RM5.07.

Among the broader indices, the FBM Mid 70 Index climbed 83.10 points to 18,193.61, the FBM Emas Shariah Index perked up 23.01 points to 12,580.37, and the FBM ACE Index advanced 19.11 points to 5,000.43.

However, the FBM Emas Index surged 27.37 points to 12,779.79, and the FBM Top 100 Index grew 25.62 points to 12,610.82.

By sector, the Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 0.48 of a point to 187.78, the Financial Services Index soared 55.41 points to 20,493.61, and the Plantation Index notched up 56.19 points to 9,361.25, but the Energy Index slid 1.58 points to 762.31.
