Space42, Leonardo DRS Ink MoU To Advance UAE National Security Systems
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- Space42, the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based artificial intelligence (AI)-powered SpaceTech company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Leonardo DRS to explore integrated sovereign national security capabilities for the UAE.
Space42 in a statement said the agreement establishes a framework to integrate Leonardo DRS mission systems with its secure satellite connectivity, combining C5ISR mission systems with AI-enabled satellite communications and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) connectivity to strengthen secure communications, situational awareness and operational resilience.
“By combining our sovereign satellite infrastructure and AI-enabled communications capabilities with Leonardo DRS’s advanced mission systems, we are strengthening protected communications that advance the UAE’s national security ecosystem,” said Space42 Chief Commercial Officer – Government, Ahmed AlMehrzi.
Meanwhile, Leonardo DRS Senior Vice President and General Manager of Land Electronics business unit, Denny Crumley said the MoU represents a significant step in supporting UAE national security priorities with integrated capabilities designed to enable mission success in an evolving threat landscape.
As national security operations become increasingly complex and interconnected, the partnership brings together Leonardo DRS’s expertise in developing and integrating rugged, high-performance C5ISR technologies and mission-critical vehicle electronics with Space42’s sovereign satellite communications and space services.
Space42’s satellite services extend secure connectivity beyond terrestrial networks, supporting informed decision-making and operational resilience, while Leonardo DRS provides advanced mission management systems, network computing and vehicle integration capabilities for the United States military and allied forces worldwide.
Leonardo DRS also provides tactical computing, smart displays, AI-enabled processing and integrated C4/C5/C6ISR solutions designed to deliver real-time situational awareness in complex security environments.
Space42, formed in 2024 through the merger of Bayanat and Yahsat, serves governments, enterprises and communities globally, addressing their evolving needs through its Space Services and Smart Solutions businesses.
