Malaysia’s Natural Rubber Production Jumps 31.5 Pct In June 2026 - DOSM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s natural rubber (NR) production increased by 31.5 per cent to 26,553 tonnes in June 2026 from 20,198 tonnes in May 2026.

In its Monthly Rubber Statistics report for June 2026, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said NR production edged up 1.2 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) from 26,249 tonnes in June 2025.

“NR production in Malaysia in June 2026 was mainly contributed by smallholders (88.7 per cent) compared to estates (11.3 per cent),” it said.

DOSM said total NR stocks rose by 5.2 per cent to 129,524 tonnes in June 2026 from 123,149 tonnes in May 2026.

“Rubber processors factory contributed 77.8 per cent of the stocks, followed by rubber consumers factory (22.1 per cent) and rubber estates (0.1 per cent),” it said.

DOSM said Malaysia’s NR exports amounted to 38,862 tonnes in June 2026, an increase of 35.2 per cent from 28,742 tonnes in May 2026.

“China remained the main destination for NR exports, accounting for 55.8 per cent of total NR exports in June 2026, followed by Germany (11.5 per cent), the United States (6.7 per cent), Turkiye and India (3.1 per cent).

“NR-based products such as rubber gloves, tyres, rubber tubes, and rubber thread contributed to export performance,” it said.

It said rubber gloves were the main export item among rubber-based products, valued at RM1.4 billion in June 2026, an increase of 19.7 per cent from RM1.2 billion in May 2026.

DOSM said the average monthly price of concentrated latex slipped by 3.6 per cent to 735.82 sen per kilogramme (kg) in June 2026 from 763.16 sen per kg in May 2026.

Conversely, the average monthly price of scrap rubber increased by 6.0 per cent to 792.76 sen per kg in June 2026 from 747.78 sen per kg in May 2026.
