Digital Penang Eyes 2,000 Users For SME Digital Matching Platform In Six Months

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Digital Penang is targeting 2,000 users for its SME Digital Matching Platform within the first six months as part of efforts to accelerate digital adoption among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the state.

State Infrastructure, Transport and Digital Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said the platform was developed to help SMEs identify suitable digital solution providers based on their business needs, operations and budgets.

“Many business owners recognise the need to improve productivity, strengthen customer engagement, automate routine processes and expand their market reach. However, the challenge is often identifying the right solution, the right provider and the right approach for their business needs and budget,” he told a press conference at the launch of the SME Digital Matching Platform here, today.

Zairil said the platform allows SMEs to explore solutions in areas such as digital marketing, e-commerce, automation, customer relationship management, data utilisation and business operations, while at the same time, digital solution providers are able to showcase their capabilities and connect with businesses actively seeking practical digital support.

At the event today, Digital Penang also launched Eventree.my online, a central platform aimed at helping Penangites, visitors, businesses and communities discover events and activities taking place across the state.

The platform brings together listings including business and technology programmes, training sessions, exhibitions, cultural events, tourism experiences and community activities, while providing organisers with an additional channel to reach wider audiences.

Zairil said information on events was often scattered across websites, social media platforms and other communication channels, resulting in members of the public potentially missing opportunities.

“Eventree.my online is not merely an event calendar. It is a practical effort to make Penang more visible, more connected and more accessible,” he said.

Digital Penang chief executive officer Ng Kwang Ming said both platforms were developed to address gaps in visibility and access within the state’s digital ecosystem.

He said the SME Digital Matching Platform would make it easier for businesses to find suitable support, while Eventree.my online would offer a single platform for the public to discover activities and opportunities across Penang.
