Maxis Shares Up 2.16 Pct In Early Trade
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Maxis Bhd’s share price was up by 2.16 per cent in early trade on Monday, after it recently announced a stronger net profit in the second quarter of 2026 (2Q 2026).
At 10.38 am, its shares gained eight sen to RM3.78, with 4.53 million shares traded.
The company posted a higher net profit of RM436 million in 2Q 2026 compared with RM398 million in the same period a year ago.
Revenue increased to RM2.66 billion from RM2.56 billion previously, supported by higher device and service revenue.
In a note, MBSB Investment Bank Bhd (MBSB IB) said its revenue forecast remains unchanged but raised its profit margin assumptions to reflect Maxis’ latest cost structure better, in view of its continued efforts to improve operational efficiency.
“This led to an upward revision in financial year 2026 (FY2026) to FY2028 earnings of between 6.4 per cent and 7.4 per cent.
“Consequently, our target price has been revised higher to RM4.31 from RM4.05 previously,” it said, maintaining its “Buy” call on the company.
Echoing MBSB IB, Kenanga Investment Bank raised its FY2026 earnings by 5.3 per cent. It also said it has delayed Digital Nasional Bhd’s equity accounting to 4Q FY2026, in line with Maxis’s latest guidance.
