Takaful Malaysia 2Q Net Profit Rises To RM88.83 Mln

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Bhd (Takaful Malaysia) posted a higher net profit of RM88.83 million in the second quarter of 2026 (Q2 2026), up from RM83.82 million a year earlier, while revenue rose to RM1.16 billion from RM1.01 billion.

For the first half of 2026 (1H 2026), net profit increased to RM189.80 million from RM178.35 million, while revenue rose to RM2.28 billion from RM2.13 billion a year earlier, mainly supported by higher contribution releases and increased takaful coverage, reflecting continued demand for family protection solutions.

In a statement, the takaful operator said the improvement in revenue and profitability reflected the underlying strength of the group’s core takaful businesses, supported by sustained momentum across its family and general takaful operations, healthy contractual service margin (CSM) releases and higher net investment income.

“The performance underscores the resilience of Takaful Malaysia’s diversified business model and the effectiveness of its disciplined approach to growth, profitability and risk management in an evolving operating environment,” it said.

Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, Takaful Malaysia said it remained focused on translating its strong business fundamentals into sustainable, quality growth, supported by resilient economic fundamentals, the persistent protection gap and growing awareness among individuals, businesses and institutions of the need for comprehensive financial protection.

It will continue to capitalise on its strengths, particularly bancatakaful partnerships, to expand its presence in the retail segment through advisory and regular-contribution products.

“These efforts aim to reach underserved and underpenetrated market segments while broadening access to takaful solutions.

“The group will also continue to leverage its digital platform, Kaotim, to enhance customer engagement and provide an alternative channel for customers to access takaful products conveniently and at affordable rates.”

Given Malaysia’s relatively low takaful penetration rate, the group said it was well positioned to capture growing demand for affordable protection, financial planning and medical coverage, while strengthening its industry presence and delivering sustainable growth and long-term value.

At the same time, Takaful Malaysia will continue to diversify and strengthen its portfolio beyond motor takaful, with significant opportunities in the commercial and retail segments, particularly asset protection, where growth potential remains substantial and largely untapped.

By capitalising on these opportunities, the group aims to accelerate its growth trajectory and reinforce its ambition to become a leading takaful provider and industry champion in Malaysia.

Takaful Malaysia group chief executive officer Nor Azman Zainal said the next phase of the group’s growth would involve more than simply expanding its business, focusing instead on improving the quality of growth, deepening customer relationships and creating greater value across the takaful ecosystem.

“We will continue to invest in our people, technology, products and distribution capabilities while strengthening our strategic partnerships.

“Digitalisation will remain an important enabler in making takaful more accessible, relevant and convenient for our customers,” he said.

With a diversified business model, strong fundamentals and a clear strategic direction, Nor Azman said Takaful Malaysia was well positioned to capture emerging opportunities while remaining disciplined in managing risks.

“We will continue to execute with focus and agility, with the objective of delivering sustainable long-term growth and lasting value for our customers, shareholders and other stakeholders,” he added.
