MNRB Net Profit Rises To RM183.75 Mln In 1Q FY2027
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- MNRB Holdings Bhd’s net profit rose to RM183.75 million in the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 (1Q FY2027) from RM168.43 million in 1Q 2026 due to better contributions from the reinsurance, family takaful and retakaful businesses.
The group said revenue also increased by 2.8 per cent to RM1 billion from RM975.56 million previously, driven by stronger performances from the general takaful, family takaful and retakaful businesses.
“Overall, the group's performance reflects the strength of its diversified business portfolio, with continued growth in the takaful segments and sustained profitability from the reinsurance business helping to offset the impact of lower revenue recognition in certain portfolios.
“The group remains well-positioned to deliver sustainable earnings through disciplined underwriting, effective claims management and prudent investment strategies,” it said in a Bursa Malaysia filing today.
On prospects, MNRB said the industry is expected to sustain its stable growth trajectory, supported by favourable macroeconomic conditions, increasing awareness of financial protection and various government initiatives.
“Takaful Ikhlas will continue to leverage these positive industry fundamentals through its diversified multi-channel distribution capabilities and efficient claims management practices.
“Meanwhile, Malaysian Reinsurance Bhd (Malaysian Re), a wholly owned subsidiary of MNRB, expects the retakaful sector to grow in tandem with the takaful industry, particularly within the medical and health segment, reflecting the increasing demand for protection and healthcare-related solutions,” it said.
Overall, MNRB said, the group remains confident in the long-term growth prospects of its reinsurance and retakaful businesses, supported by its diversified business portfolio, disciplined underwriting practices and focus on sustainable profitability.
In a separate statement, it said building on its 1Q FY2027 earnings momentum, MNRB is advancing its transformation into a more focused reinsurance and retakaful group, with the proposed acquisition of the remaining 80 per cent interest in Labuan Reinsurance (L) Ltd (Labuan Re) and the proposed divestment of the group’s takaful businesses.
Both of these proposed corporate exercises were announced within the span of three months.
On Aug 4, 2026, MNRB entered into implementation agreements with Rakyat Nominees Sdn Bhd and Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd in relation to the proposed divestment of Takaful Ikhlas for a total disposal consideration of RM1.64 billion, subject to adjustments.
Interim president and group chief executive officer Datuk Rudy Rodzila Che Lamin said the proposed acquisition of Labuan Re would further strengthen the group’s reinsurance and retakaful platform, while the proposed divestment of Takaful Ikhlas would unlock value from its takaful businesses for shareholders and enable the group to focus its capital and resources on sustainable long-term growth opportunities.
“We are optimistic by the opportunities ahead and confident in our ability to translate our strategic ambitions into stronger, more resilient earnings and even greater long-term value for our shareholders and other stakeholders,” he said.
MNRB is a leading financial holding company offering reinsurance, retakaful and takaful solutions through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Malaysian Re, Takaful Ikhlas Family Bhd and Takaful Ikhlas General Bhd.
