Digital Realty Secures Provisional 50 MW For Singapore Data Centre
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Digital Realty has been selected under Singapore’s second Data Center Call for Application (DC-CFA2), with a provisional allocation of 50 megawatts (MW) to develop a new data centre at Jurong Town Corporation’s low-carbon data centre park on Jurong Island.
The company said the facility will support artificial intelligence (AI) inference, high-performance computing and enterprise digital workloads across the Asia Pacific and will be designed to meet DC-CFA2 energy-efficiency requirements, with more than 50 per cent of its capacity powered through green energy pathways.
Digital Realty Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific, Serene Nah in a statement said the company plans to expand on Jurong Island with next-generation AI-ready infrastructure while scaling its operations responsibly as demand for digital infrastructure grows.
The selection followed an open competitive process led by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), with successful proposals assessed on their potential to strengthen Singapore's position as a hub for AI, digital infrastructure and network connectivity, as well as support innovation, economic development and sustainability.
Digital Realty said the selection marks the next phase of its long-term growth in Singapore, where it has operated since 2010 and currently has three data centres with approximately 84 MW of combined capacity.
The new facility will become Digital Realty's fourth Singapore data centre and expand its interconnected Singapore campus, connecting customers to its global PlatformDIGITAL ecosystem and ServiceFabric service orchestration platform.
The company said growing adoption of cloud services, digital applications and AI is increasing demand for data centre infrastructure, with AI inference in particular requiring workloads to be located closer to users and enterprise data.
Digital Realty said its existing Singapore operations already achieve 100 per cent renewable energy coverage through direct retail energy agreements with Tuas Power, while its collaboration with IMDA on Singapore's tropical data centre standard has also helped improve energy efficiency.
