Patton, alfanar Partner On Saudi Energy Infrastructure Modernisation
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Patton LLC and alfanar have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to modernise operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) networks supporting electrical substations, smart-grid infrastructure and critical energy operations across Saudi Arabia.
The partnership, delivered through alfanar Digital Solutions (ADS) and alfanar eDAS, will focus on industrial automation, smart-grid modernisation, digital substations and cybersecurity for critical infrastructure, incorporating secure OT networking, grid cybersecurity, network segmentation and resilient substation automation.
In a statement, Patton Chief Revenue Officer, Burton Patton said the company will contribute its products, intellectual property and engineering capabilities to support the secure digital transformation of Saudi Arabia’s energy sector as the Kingdom advances its Vision 2030 objectives.
Meanwhile, alfanar Vice President, eDAS, Chadi Iskandar said the agreement combines complementary capabilities to accelerate the deployment of smart-grid, automation and digital substation architectures while maintaining security and reliability.
Patton’s technologies under the agreement include ConnectIT CIT-SFP, which enables legacy remote terminal units (RTUs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and other devices to connect to modern Ethernet/IP networks; CopperLink CL-SFP for extending Ethernet connectivity over existing copper infrastructure; and FiberPlex SFX Data Diode SFP modules for secure, unidirectional data transfer.
The agreement also gives alfanar access to Patton’s Special Projects Group, contract development, engineering and manufacturing services for customised initiatives supporting Saudi Arabia’s evolving electrical infrastructure.
The companies will pursue opportunities involving next-generation utility infrastructure, intelligent substations, secure OT networking and smart transmission and distribution initiatives in support of Saudi Vision 2030.
