KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives rose for a second consecutive day, following the recovery of gold prices in the global market.
Quintex Intel global strategist Stephen Innes said gold prices in the broader market were holding on to their recent gains ahead of the United States nonfarm payrolls report, which is due today.
“This is as investors anticipate a result that is unlikely to push the Federal Reserve towards a rate hike this month, while US Treasury yields remain relatively steady,” he told Bernama.
At the close, the spot-month September 2026 contract rose to US$4,477.50 per troy ounce from US$4,447.70 per troy ounce yesterday, while the October 2026 contract increased to US$4,491.30 per troy ounce from US$4,462.20 previously.
The November 2026 contract improved to US$4,509.70 per troy ounce from US$4,478.80 per troy ounce, while the December 2026, February 2027 and April 2027 contracts strengthened to US$4,517.50 per troy ounce from US$4,486.60 per troy ounce previously.
Trading volume trimmed to 302 lots from 335 lots yesterday, while open interest slipped to 357 contracts from 387 contracts previously.
Physical gold was fixed at US$4,467.15 per troy ounce at the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on Sept 3, 2026.
