DHCG Opens Shanghai Office To Expand China Biopharma Services 

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Dark Horse Consulting Group (DHCG), a life sciences consulting firm, has opened an office in Shanghai to expand its advisory services to biotherapeutic developers in China.

The opening follows DHCG’s formation of Dark Horse Consulting China in August 2026 and the appointment of Kang Liu as Senior Director and Head of China, according to the company in a statement.

DHCG said the new practice will help biotherapeutic developers leverage China’s contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) and contract research organisation (CRO) infrastructure, regulatory pathways for first-in-human (FIH) studies and growing role in generating clinical data.

DHCG Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Davies said the Shanghai office reflects the company’s view that China has become an important consideration for Western biopharmaceutical developers.

Dark Horse Consulting China will advise clients throughout the investigator-initiated trial (IIT) process, including regulatory strategy, manufacturing and controls (CMC) planning, CDMO and CRO selection, hospital and principal investigator selection, supply chain management, fundraising and asset licensing strategies.

DHCG said China’s life sciences sector has developed advanced manufacturing and contract research infrastructure, while evolving regulatory frameworks and the IIT pathway offer developers potential routes to generate FIH data.

The company said lower clinical costs and shorter timelines have increased interest in China IITs among innovative biopharmaceutical companies, while its ecosystem of CDMOs and CROs supports global development programmes.

Liu said the opportunity to generate clinical data in China and accelerate global development programmes is growing, adding that DHCG China aims to provide clients with a clear and executable path.

The Shanghai office opening ceremony was attended by DHCG leadership, representatives from the Shanghai Center of Biomedicine Development, CDMOs and CROs, and members of the regional life sciences community.
