Malaysia-India Investment Ties Gain Momentum With Manufacturing, Green Energy Opportunities

NEW DELHI, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and India’s investment ties continue to gain momentum, with Malaysia having approved 293 manufacturing projects with Indian participation worth US$2.95 billion (RM10.16 billion) as of June 2026, Malaysia’s Chargé d'Affaires, Deputy High Commissioner, Sharifah Ezneeda Wafa, said.
Hence, during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s working visit here for the 18th BRICS Summit, he is scheduled to meet prominent captains of industry.
“This is expected to elevate the investment ties between Putrajaya and New Delhi,” Sharifah Ezneeda Wafa told Malaysian media ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival on Sept 11.
Malaysia’s participation in the BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi is in its capacity as a BRICS Partner Country.
According to data, of the total, 180 projects valued at US$1.48 billion (RM5.12 billion) have been implemented.
The projects span key sectors including textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, petrochemicals, metal products, transportation and renewable energy.
At the same time, Malaysian companies have established a presence across various sectors in India, reflecting growing business and investment linkages between the two countries.
IJM Infrastructure Ltd is involved in expressways, highways, metro rail, residential townships and commercial buildings, while Gentari India focuses on solar, wind, distributed renewable energy, battery energy storage and hydrogen.
Ingress Mayur Auto Ventures India Pvt Ltd is involved in the manufacturing of automotive components through a joint venture, and Eversendai Construction provides structural steel design, engineering, fabrication and installation services for power plants and oil and gas facilities.
SMH Rail India Pvt Ltd undertakes rolling-stock engineering and manufacturing, including solutions for the Mumbai Monorail. It signed a memorandum of understanding with BEML Ltd in 2024 on co-manufacturing and technology exchange.
Meanwhile, Gleneagles Hospital operates a network of multispecialty hospitals in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, will be accompanied by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan.
