All AirAsia Operating Crew Tested Negative For Drugs
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- All active AirAsia Malaysia and AirAsia X Malaysia operating crew have tested negative for drugs following a screening exercise conducted as part of the airlines’ fit-to-fly and safety protocols.
In a statement today, AirAsia Group, formerly known as AirAsia X Bhd, said that the screening covered all active operating crew, comprising pilots and cabin crew across both airlines.
Group chief operations officer Captain Suresh Bangah said all pilots and cabin crew were subject to stringent fit-to-fly requirements, including regular drug and alcohol testing, as part of the group’s established safety framework.
“Safety and security are fundamental to everything we do at AirAsia, and we have zero tolerance for drug use,” he said, adding that the screening would ensure all operating crew were fit to perform their duties safely and professionally.
He said the airline would continue to uphold these rigorous standards across its operations, in line with applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
