RobotPlusPlus Closes Series C Round To Accelerate Global Expansion
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- RobotPlusPlus has closed a Series C financing round worth hundreds of millions of Chinese yuan to accelerate global expansion and embodied artificial intelligence (AI) development.
RobotPlusPlus in a statement said the round was led by Qianggang Capital Fund and joined by GIG Capital Group, Sealand Innovation and Juntong Capital, while Fosun RZ Capital increased its stake.
“The true value of industrial robotics lies in real-world execution. Over 10 years, we have built special-purpose robots that are genuinely deployable at scale, and this round lets us bring those solutions to more industrial sites around the world,” said its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Hua-Yang Xu.
RobotPlusPlus builds robots to handle dangerous tasks across shipyards, oil-and-gas facilities, wind farms and building façades, reducing the need for skilled workers to operate on scaffolding and other hazardous structures while improving safety and efficiency.
The company’s hull derusting robots have been deployed at more than 100 shipyards, with a market share above 70 per cent, and have worked on over 10,000 cargo vessels. They improve efficiency by five to six times and reduce overall costs by 30 per cent to 50 per cent compared with manual methods.
“RobotPlusPlus has brought robot fleets to commercial scale and expanded from ship-hull derusting into other demanding industrial applications. We see the potential for a global platform in autonomous industrial operations,” said Qianggang Capital Fund General Manager, Zhang Zhenming.
Operating across more than 18 countries, RobotPlusPlus said more than 60 per cent of its workforce is in research and development (R&D), with R&D investment above 20 per cent of revenue for three consecutive years.
Its customers and partners include NOSCO Shipyard, Drydocks World, ST Engineering Marine, Saudi Aramco and Vopak, while its robots have accumulated more than two million operating hours, generating real-world data to strengthen vertical AI models for complex industrial environments.
