MATRADE, MDEC Facilitate 5 Studios To Tokyo Game Show 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) are showcasing five Malaysian game studios at the Malaysian Pavilion at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2026 in Chiba, Japan, from Sept 17 to 21, 2026.

A joint statement today said the participating companies are Algoin Tech, Fuloso, Magnus Games Studio, Metropolice and Vmagery Studio.

They are offering a range of games and digital creative services, including game development and original IP creation inspired by Malaysia’s unique cultural heritage, two- and three-dimensional game art and animation, cinematic and immersive digital solutions.

“The Malaysia Pavilion will be driving various business engagements through a curated programme, including business matching sessions with strategic partners, opening avenues for publishing, licensing, co-development, investment and other commercial opportunities,” the statement said.

MATRADE chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Abu Bakar Yusof said the 10-year participation at TGS underscores Malaysia’s growing strength and ambition in the global digital creative and gaming industry.

Malaysian studios are not only simply showcasing their capabilities, but are also creating original intellectual properties, building international partnerships and delivering globally competitive creative solutions, he said.

“MATRADE has facilitated the participation of more than 60 Malaysian companies at TGS over the past years, generating export opportunities worth RM1.31 billion.

“MATRADE will continue to leverage strategic platforms such as TGS to accelerate the internationalisation of Malaysian companies and translate our creative strengths into sustainable export opportunities,” he said.

Echoing Abu Bakar, MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil said Malaysia’s game development ecosystem continues to grow, supported by a strong pool of creative talent, sophisticated capabilities and original IPs with international appeal.

“TGS offers our studios an opportunity to showcase their creativity and technical expertise while building meaningful connections with global industry players.

“MDEC remains committed to supporting Malaysian talent and companies in expanding their presence in international markets,” he said.

Malaysia is home to over 300 animation and game development studios, supported by a skilled and multilingual talent pool with strong technical capabilities.

The sector generates over RM5 billion annually through exports, outsourcing, original IP development and digital content production.
