Medisca Launches Global Peptide Division To Expand API-Grade Access

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Medisca has launched Medisca Peptides, a global division focused on expanding access to active pharmaceutical ingredient (API)-grade peptides and developing an integrated peptide platform for pharmaceutical and personalised medicine markets.

The company said the launch represents a long-term commitment to peptides, including expanding its portfolio, establishing strategic manufacturing relationships and developing pharmaceutical infrastructure to support the category’s growth.

“When I founded Medisca, I saw an opportunity to bring pharmaceutical compounding closer to the standards of traditional pharma by giving compounders better access to API-grade ingredients and holding those ingredients to a higher standard.

“Today, I see a similar opportunity with peptides. We are not entering this space to follow it. We intend to help shape it,” said Medisca Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Antonio Dos Santos in a statement.

Meanwhile, its Chief Commercial Officer, Charlie Guerini said the division would combine a growing API portfolio, selected manufacturing partners, reliable supply and technical expertise to give customers greater confidence in peptide quality and sourcing.

Medisca said it has selected manufacturing partners based on pharmaceutical experience, quality systems, manufacturing expertise and compliance practices. It will apply processes covering manufacturer qualification, product testing, documentation and supply-chain oversight to the peptide APIs it brings to market.

The company said the controls are particularly important for peptides due to their manufacturing complexity and considerations around characterisation, purity and peptide-related impurities. Medisca Peptides will operate within applicable regulatory frameworks and support responsible access to peptide APIs.

Beyond API supply, Medisca Peptides will combine formulation expertise, compounding technologies and equipment, analytical services, education and technical support to help healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical partners navigate the evolving peptide landscape.

Medisca Peptides will initially roll out across selected global markets, with the company planning to expand its peptide portfolio and manufacturing relationships while investing in capabilities to support the category’s growth.
