Kelington, Tata Electronics Collaborate To Accelerate Operational Readiness Of Dholera Fab
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Integrated engineering solutions provider Kelington Group Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India's electronics and semiconductor manufacturing sector pioneer Tata Electronics to collaborate on accelerating operational readiness of Tata's fabrication facility (Fab) in Dholera, Gujarat.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Kelington said as part of the collaboration, Kelington would support the delivery of critical infrastructure and systems required for semiconductor manufacturing.
"The partnership will enable Tata Electronics to accelerate the facility’s operational readiness for silicon wafer production.
"It will also explore the development of local talent and advanced design, and build engineering capabilities in India," it said.
The alliance reflects the shared commitment of both companies to supporting India’s growing semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and would be a key enabler for the timely execution of the Dholera Fab project.
Tata Electronics chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director Dr Randhir Thakur said building a semiconductor Fab requires collaboration across an extensive ecosystem of partners with deep technical expertise.
He also said tool hookup is a critical element in establishing a reliable, efficient and high-performance Fab environment, enabling seamless integration of sophisticated equipment and supporting operational excellence from day one.
"Together, we will create a world-class semiconductor manufacturing environment that will contribute to India’s semiconductor ambitions, and our goal of timely delivery of high-quality chips for our global customers," said Randhir.
Meanwhile, Kelington's group CEO Lim Seng Chuan said the proposed partnership for Tata Electronics’ Dholera facility has been envisioned to support the exacting requirements of semiconductor manufacturing.
"This alliance will support the development of critical infrastructure for the Dholera facility and contribute to the growth of India’s semiconductor industry," he said.
The chip manufacturing facility in Dholera forms a cornerstone of Tata Electronics’ semiconductor manufacturing ambitions.
Backed by a planned investment of US$11 billion, the 12-inch (300 millimetre) Fab would produce semiconductor products, across a wide range of applications, including automotive, mobile devices, and artificial intelligence, for domestic and global customers.
