Bank Rakyat, Alibaba Cloud, Lenovo Synergy Open Up Opportunities For Strategic Cooperation

SHANGHAI, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- The strategic synergy between Bank Rakyat and Chinese technology giants, Alibaba Cloud and Lenovo, has opened up greater opportunities for the sharing of technology, expertise and experience in efforts to strengthen digital capabilities, artificial intelligence (AI) and financial technology (fintech).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said efforts to explore cooperation could potentially benefit micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the cooperative movement and local entrepreneurs, while driving the delivery of more efficient, inclusive and quality digital services.
“I welcome Bank Rakyat’s transformation efforts and commitment to strengthen its digital capabilities by exploring broader opportunities for cooperation across Alibaba’s various business areas, as well as welcome Lenovo’s involvement as an ecosystem partner in Bank Rakyat’s Fintech Community Hub,” he said in his social media post today.
On his arrival in Shanghai, Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, participated in a strategic engagement session between Bank Rakyat, Alibaba Cloud and Lenovo, which are currently exploring cooperation in digital technology, AI and fintech.
“Our objective is clear: every strategic partnership established must generate spillover value for the national economy, enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness and, ultimately, most importantly, provide and guarantee meaningful benefits to the people,” he said.
The highlight of the Prime Minister’s visit will be a high-level meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, on Thursday.
He will also attend WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), and is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the plenary session of the WorldSkills Conference 2026 on Wednesday.
China has remained Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years, with total bilateral trade reaching US$113.82 billion (RM456.68 billion) from January to August this year.
