MIHAS 2026 A Practical Platform To Connect Malaysian, Chinese Entrepreneurs -- MEEDC

By Harizah Hanim Mohamed

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- The ongoing Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026 is a practical platform to connect Malaysian and Chinese entrepreneurs, with durian-based products from Perak seen as having the greatest potential to tap into the China market.

Malaysian Entrepreneurs Ecosystem Data Centre (MEEDC) supreme advisory council member Sophia Ma said the association, which focuses strongly on the China-Malaysia halal ecosystem, also sees MIHAS as a premier platform to foster connections with halal markets globally, in addition to China.

“Through MIHAS as a gateway, we aim to connect with government and business stakeholders in Malaysia and establish practical channels for halal trade and industrial investment.

“That is why we chose to sponsor this event,” she told the Bernama Mobile Studio here today.

Ma was invited as a guest to discuss the topic “Exploring the Impact of Sponsorship and Partnership Opportunities” at MIHAS 2026, which is organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

On potential business opportunities between the two countries, Ma said the China market could be further explored for Perak’s durian-based products.

“They have so much potential if exported to China because the market is huge, and Malaysia can explore more opportunities there,” she added.

As for Chinese businesses, she said they could explore Malaysia’s textile and fabric sector and supply materials, especially those with new technologies for the Malaysian market.

She said Malaysia’s tropical weather creates demand for ventilated fabrics, with Chinese companies, such as those in Shanghai, offering products that use new technologies, including rare earth elements to enhance the ventilation of the fabric.

“There is a big market in Malaysia for textiles from China,” she added.

MIHAS 2026, which runs from Sept 23-26, has attracted 30,000 visitors thus far (as of its third day) and is on track to meet its target of 50,000 visitors.

Themed “Shaping Trust, Driving Resilience”, the 22nd edition of MIHAS features 2,000 booths, 1,700 exhibitors and 450 international buyers from 58 countries.

MIHAS 2026 is targeting more than RM5 billion in potential business and seeking to expand market access for Malaysian halal products globally.
