IJM Corp Appoints Johan Idris As Chairman
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- Conglomerate IJM Corporation Bhd (IJM Corp) has announced the appointment of Datuk Johan Idris as independent non-executive director and chairman.
IJM Corp said in a statement that Johan’s appointment followed the board’s leadership transition arising from the retirement of Tan Sri Krishnan Tan at IJM’s 42nd AGM on Aug 27, 2026. IJM Corp non-executive director Datuk Lee Teck Yuen assumed the chairmanship at the time, providing continuity in board leadership while the board continued its succession process and consideration of the longer-term chairmanship.
Commenting on his appointment, Johan said he is honoured to join the board of IJM Corp and take on the role of chairman. "IJM has strong businesses, an experienced management team and a clear strategic direction. I look forward to working with my fellow board members and management to uphold strong governance and oversight as the group executes its priorities and creates long-term value for its stakeholders," he said.
Johan brings over 34 years of experience in finance, audit and strategic advisory.
According to IJM Corp, he was managing partner and country senior partner of KPMG Malaysia from 2014 to 2024, having previously served as its head of audit and an audit partner.
"He was also president of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants from 2013 to 2015 and an executive member of Bank Negara Malaysia’s Financial Stability Executive Committee from 2016 to 2018. He currently serves as chairman of Maxis Bhd and non-executive chairman of KPMG Malaysia, and is a director of KLCC Property Holdings Bhd and KLCC Real Estate Investment Trust," it said.
