GLICs To Invest RM2 Bln To Empower Bumiputera Companies

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Government-linked investment companies (GLICs) will invest RM2 billion to empower Bumiputera companies, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar, also the Minister of Finance, said that, for example, Ekuiti Nasional Bhd (Ekuinas) and Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB) will help Bumiputera companies move toward public listing and strengthen strategic property ownership.

He elaborated that the RM250 million Dana Ciptawan was established by Khazanah Nasional Bhd (Khazanah) and the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU) to support the growth of Bumiputera mid-tier companies.

Additionally, Anwar said that the government will develop a centralised solar park for government buildings with an investment of RM1.5 billion.

“This also provides opportunities for Bumiputera companies in construction, engineering, and maintenance.

“Through the large-scale solar project 6 (LSS6), 150 megawatts are dedicated to Bumiputera companies to support them in the clean energy industry,” he said.
