GSH Tax Incentives To Boost Johor's Appeal As Regional Business Hub – IIB

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The enhanced Global Services Hub (GSH) tax incentives under Budget 2027, including the five per cent tax rate on qualifying income for eligible new companies, are expected to strengthen Johor’s appeal as a regional business hub, said Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB).

In a statement today, IIB said the measures were particularly relevant to the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

“GSH incentives can help Malaysia compete for more than back-office activity by attracting regional functions involving finance, technology, data, compliance, customer operations and business management, where business decisions are made, and higher-value work is performed.

“IIB is ready to help investors translate this opportunity into a meaningful presence on the ground,” it said.

IIB, which is 60 per cent-owned by Khazanah Nasional Bhd, is an investment holding company responsible for spearheading the strategic development of Iskandar Malaysia, with a primary focus on Iskandar Puteri.

Its president and chief executive officer, Datuk Idzham Mohd Hashim said Budget 2027 strengthens Johor’s position in attracting investments, particularly in higher-value regional business operations.

“Budget 2027 creates a more compelling investment case for Johor through its incentives, advancing the connectivity agenda and timely focus on talent.

“Our role is to help accelerate investment delivery by moving from investor interest and commitments to businesses that establish operations, employ Malaysians, build local linkages and create enduring value,” he said.

IIB also highlighted measures to improve connectivity and homeownership, including support for public transport improvements in Johor Bahru, an expanded Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme of up to RM20 billion to assist 80,000 first-time homebuyers, and stamp duty relief for eligible first-home purchasers from 2027 to 2030.
