By Hasnah Jusid

JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Local fast-food chain Marrybrown aims to open 30 new outlets nationwide by 2027 as part of its strategy to expand operations and strengthen its position in the fast-food industry.

Marrybrown Malaysia chief executive officer Daniel Chan Lek Seong said the plan aligns with the company’s efforts to continue expanding its business network to meet domestic demand.

“Marrybrown now has around 300 outlets in Malaysia, with Johor recording the highest number at around 100 outlets since the brand originated from that state,” he told Bernama after attending the launch of the Road to Franchise International Malaysia 2027 (FIM2027) programme here yesterday.

Chan said the company also plans to expand its network in Johor in line with the state’s economic development, including the development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project.

On international developments, Daniel said Marrybrown, which currently has around 500 outlets in 16 countries, including Malaysia, is also exploring new markets, including Cambodia and Egypt.

He said the first outlet in Cambodia is scheduled to open this November, with renovations currently underway.

Chan said his company aims to continue expanding its international presence by exploring three to five new country markets each year, subject to identified business opportunities.

He said the effort was also carried out in collaboration with various parties, including related agencies and the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA), to strengthen the position of local brands in the global market.

Meanwhile, Daniel said about 90 per cent of Marrybrown’s raw materials come from local suppliers, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to support the domestic supply chain.

He added that the company is also currently maintaining menu prices and prioritising affordability for consumers.
