BNM's New Electronic Trading Platforms Framework To Replace 2019 Policy On Nov 1

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has issued a new Framework for Electronic Trading Platforms (ETP), which will replace the existing 2019 framework effective Nov 1, 2026.

The central bank said the framework sets out its requirements and expectations for market participants providing electronic trading platform services in Malaysia’s wholesale financial markets, particularly the money and foreign exchange markets.

It said eligible platform operators are required to obtain BNM’s approval before offering such services in Malaysia.

“(Meanwhile), operators offering electronic trading services for instruments beyond the scope of the framework must seek the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities, where applicable,” said BNM in a statement today.

The central bank said the framework, first issued in 2019, resulted from continuous reviews following feedback from the industry and market participants on ETP matters to ensure its continued relevance.
