KL Rubber Market Closes Mixed Amid Lower Oil Prices, Supply Disruptions

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur rubber market closed mixed on Thursday amid declining oil prices and supply disruptions in major rubber-producing countries, a dealer said.
She said market sentiment was also influenced by China’s slower economic performance, especially weaker-than-expected domestic car sales in 2026.
Oil prices fell on Monday as diplomatic efforts to ease the US-Israeli war with Iran tempered fears of further supply disruptions, although continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia kept geopolitical risks elevated.
“Nevertheless, further losses were capped by weather-related supply disruptions in major rubber-producing countries and encouraging United States economic activity,” she told Bernama.
The dealer noted that market sentiment remained steady in Japanese rubber futures, with the broader uptrend intact as traders weighed weather-related supply disruptions in key producing regions against lower oil prices.
At 3 pm, the Malaysian Rubber Board’s Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (SMR 20) price fell five sen to 1,037 sen per kilogramme (kg) while bulk latex rose 0.5 sen to 799 sen per kg.
