AHTV Development Records RM7 Bln In Realised investments From 2018-2026 -- Sim

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- The development of the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tanjung Malim, Perak, has recorded realised investments totalling RM7 billion for the 2018-2026 period, representing 23.3 per cent of the projected RM30 billion in total investments expected by 2035, with contributions including those from Geely.

Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin said AHTV has recorded rapid growth in job creation, driven by the pace of investment and infrastructure development.

“The workforce, which began at around 2,000 people in 2018, has grown rapidly to 9,300 in 2026, and is projected to reach 22,800 by 2030,” he said during the questions for oral answers session in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Sim was replying to Tan Kok Wai’s (DAP-Cheras) question about the number and detailed list of projects that have materialised under Geely's US$10 billion investment commitment in Tanjung Malim (US$1=RM4.08).

He said one key achievement that has fully materialised is the upgrade of Proton’s manufacturing facilities in Tanjung Malim, including expanded production capacity and capabilities, as well as the production of new engines and transmissions featuring advanced technology.

For 2025-2026, the development and upgrading of industrial facilities will also include electric vehicle production plants, increased engine production capacity, metal stamping facilities, new logistics centres and warehouses, and research and development testing laboratories, said Sim.
