NCER Records RM116.4 Mln Realised Investments In Perlis As Of Sept 30
KANGAR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) has recorded RM116.4 million in realised investments in Perlis as of Sept 30, 2026, reflecting investors’ confidence in the state’s economic development potential.
Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) chief executive Datuk Mohamad Haris Kader Sultan said the realised investments were achieved through collaboration with the Federal Government, Perlis state government and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
According to him, it demonstrates the effectiveness of the long-term development strategies implemented to strengthen Perlis' competitiveness as a high-potential investment destination.
Mohamad Haris said NCER continued to accelerate Perlis' economic transformation through the implementation of strategic catalyst projects, positioning the state as a logistics, agro-food and future industries hub in the northern region.
“The investment realisation recorded this year reflects investors' confidence in Perlis' economic potential.
“With strategic projects such as the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) and the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Free Trade Zone – Perlis Inland Clearance Depot (PIP) in place, NCER is now facilitating several potential investments in the logistics, high-value manufacturing, agro-food and emerging technology sectors which are expected to further strengthen the state's future investment landscape,” he said in a statement today.
The statement was issued following the Perlis State Development Committee Meeting chaired by Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah today.
Mohamad Haris said the ongoing development initiatives were aligned with the aspirations of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), the NCER Strategic Development Plan (NCER SDP) 2026–2030, Perlis Maju 2030 and the MADANI Economy agenda, which focus on high-value economic development, strengthening strategic infrastructure, talent development, as well as inclusive and sustainable growth.
"Among the key drivers of the state's economic transformation are the CVIA development and the PIP operations, which complement each other in enhancing Perlis' attractiveness as a strategic investment destination and accelerating the inflow of new investments into the state," he said.
He said that more efficient logistics infrastructure and enhanced cross-border trade connectivity would also support the 13MP's priority of strengthening regional economic competitiveness and regional supply chains.
In terms of new growth sectors, he said the development of the NCER Agribio Economic Zone (NAEZ) would strengthen the country's food security agenda through the adoption of modern technology and high-value production, while the development of the aerospace and unmanned aircraft system (UAS) ecosystem would attract research activities, innovation and high-technology investments to Perlis.
"NCER is optimistic that the combination of increasingly developed strategic infrastructure, ongoing catalyst projects and potential investments currently being facilitated will accelerate Perlis' economic transformation and strengthen its position as a logistics, agro-food and future industries hub in the northern region,” he added.
