Univar Solutions, Roquette Expand Plant-Based Ingredients Deal

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Univar Solutions LLC (Univar Solutions) has expanded its distribution relationship with plant-based ingredients maker Roquette to include plant proteins and soluble fibres, alongside cellulosics, for customers in the United States and Canada.

The agreement, through Foodology by Univar Solutions business, covers Roquette’s NUTRALYS pea protein, NUTRIOSE soluble fibre and an expanded range of cellulosics, plant-derived ingredients used to improve the texture and stability of food, the company said in a statement.

NUTRALYS pea protein is made from non-genetically modified yellow peas using a water-based process, while NUTRIOSE soluble fibre is sourced from non-genetically modified wheat or corn.

“Together with Roquette, a global pioneer in plant-based ingredients, we are delivering on our promise of bringing innovative, sustainable solutions to our customers,” said Univar Solutions senior vice president of Health & Nutrition, Aaron Lee.

Meanwhile, Roquette head of Global Distribution Management for Nutrition and Bio-industry business unit, Gaetan Fauvarque said the expanded relationship would make more of Roquette’s products available to customers in North America.

The ingredients are aimed at uses including protein drinks, fortified snacks, and baked goods, with a focus on nutraceuticals and sports nutrition, in line with trends such as protein fortification, plant-based diets, weight management and higher fibre intake.

Univar Solutions distributes speciality chemicals and ingredients and also provides logistics, regulatory support and recipe development services to customers.
