JAKARTA, July 27 (Bernama) -- Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo has tendered his resignation, with Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti to automatically assume the post of acting governor in accordance with the Bank Indonesia Law.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the government had officially received Perry's resignation letter on Sunday, with President Prabowo Subianto accepting the resignation.

“In accordance with the applicable procedures and laws and regulations, particularly the BI Law, the President has accepted Perry Warjiyo's resignation, while conveying his deepest appreciation and gratitude for his dedication during nearly seven years of leading BI," he told a press conference on Monday.

Prasetyo said the government would immediately begin the administrative process by issuing a presidential decree for Perry's honourable dismissal as governor.

"In accordance with the BI Law, the position of Governor will automatically be assumed by the Senior Deputy Governor, who will subsequently carry out all duties as Acting Governor," he said.

Prasetyo said the government called on all institutions to continue carrying out their respective mandates under the law, stressing that the central bank would continue carrying out its monetary mandate, while the government, through the Finance Ministry, would remain responsible for fiscal policy and maintain close coordination.
