KLCI Futures Seen In The 1,710-1,740 Range Next Week

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures are expected to trade on an upward bias within a range between 1,710 and 1,740, said an analyst.

Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of equity research Thong Pak Leng told Bernama that it will be supported by continued institutional and foreign buying interest after strong buying last week.

“Entering the month of August, which is the earnings season may see improving sentiment if companies outperforming their targets,” he said.

For the week just ended, the FBM KLCI futures contracts ended mostly higher.

On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the July 2026 contract rose 20.5 points to 1,722.5, the August 2026 contract increased 30 points to 1,732.5, the September 2026 contract added 28.5 points to 1,710.5 and December 2026 contracts bagged 29.5 points to 1,714.0.

Weekly turnover ballooned to 184,724 lots from 38,614 lots a week earlier, while open interest rose to 54,476 contracts from 51,094 contracts previously.

On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the barometer index soared 23.88 points to 1,724.90 from 1,701.02 a week earlier.
