Bursa Malaysia Stays Lower At Mid-Afternoon
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-afternoon, weighed down by mild selling in selected heavyweights, said an analyst.
At 3.01 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 2.73 points to 1,722.17 from last Friday’s close of 1,724.90.
The benchmark index opened 0.36 of a point higher at 1,725.26.
The broader market was negative, with losers outpacing gainers 517 to 398, while 513 counters were unchanged, 1,302 untraded and 20 suspended.
Turnover amounted to 1.77 billion units worth RM1.32 billion.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank slid two sen to RM10.80, Public Bank gained one sen to RM5.18, CIMB Group was 5.0 sen higher RM7.94, Tenaga Nasional lost 12 sen to RM14.48, and IHH Healthcare shed 5.0 sen to RM8.30.
As for the most active stocks, Hubline was half-a-sen lower at three sen, Tanco Holdings and VS Industry inched up half-a-sen each to 26.5 sen and 23.5 sen, respectively, Zetrix AI edged down 1.5 sen to 73 sen, NationGate Holdings gained four sen to RM1.23.
Leading gainers included Nestle, which climbed RM1.60 to RM102.70, Malaysian Pacific Industries rose 84 sen to RM46.84, AmBank advanced 27 sen to RM7.03, Hong Leong Industries rose 16 sen to RM17.88, and UMS Integration was 11 sen higher at RM7.46.
As for top losers, Fraser & Neave dipped 44 sen to RM27.46, Petronas Chemicals fell 17 sen to RM4.61, Frontken Corporation declined 16 sen to RM5.05, Bintulu Port Holdings erased 16 sen to RM5.34, and Petronas Gas decreased 14 sen to RM17.40.
Among the broader indices, the FBM Emas Index sank 15.81 points to 12,735.98, the FBM Top 100 Index trimmed 18.90 points to 12,566.21, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index slid 48.25 points to 12,548.04.
The FBM Mid 70 Index shed 22.88 points to 18,112.90 while the FBM ACE Index surged 19.52 points to 4,994.20.
By sector, the Industrial Products and Services Index inched down 1.96 points to 186.78, the Energy Index eased 3.13 points to 762.59, the Financial Services Index advanced 59.02 points to 20,386.67, and the Plantation Index perked up 2.10 points to 9,290.67.
