NexG Welcomes Govt Decision Not To Acquire Datasonic Technologies
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- NexG Bhd and its subsidiary Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd (DTSB) have expressed their gratitude to the MADANI Government following its decision not to acquire DTSB.
The statement comes in response to a media release issued by the National Security Council (MKN) on Saturday, which stated the government's stance not to take over DTSB but remained committed to ensuring that all parties involved continue to provide safe and trusted services to the people.
NexG and DTSB welcomed the decision, thanking the MADANI Government for its confidence in DTSB’s continued efforts to supply Malaysia’s high-security identity cards without compromising security.
"DTSB remains fully committed to upholding the highest standards of security, integrity and reliability as it has successfully done for the past 27 years," NextG said in a statement today.
The company noted that the long-standing track record, supported by experienced local talent and in-house capabilities, reflects its ability to continuously deliver mission-critical identity solutions securely and reliably.
"NexG will continue to safeguard the security and sovereignty of Malaysia’s identity cards without compromise, while working closely with relevant government agencies to continuously enhance their security features and ensure that the identity of Malaysians remains safe and protected," it said.
With the continuation of the raw identity card production contract for Malaysia, NexG said it can now continue with its strategic expansion plans in the domestic and international sectors as previously planned.
"This will further expand NexG’s wings and footprint as a high-tech technology company, in addition to being the leading manufacturer of high-security identity cards in Malaysia," it said.
On Aug 20, NexG Bhd was reported to have valued its wholly owned subsidiary DTSB at approximately RM7.5 billion after receiving a government request to submit an indicative price for a possible acquisition of the company.
DTSB is the provider of MyKad and since 2012 has been the vendor of Malaysian passports that comply with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
DTSB also holds the mandate for the new MyKad structure, MyTentera, and MyPOCA with a supply commitment for several years.
