X Square Robot Sorts 10,000 Parcels In Five-Hour WRC Challenge

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- X Square Robot, a Shenzhen-based embodied artificial intelligence (AI) company, announced its WALL-B robotic system sorted 10,000 parcels in five hours, 14 minutes and one second during a logistics challenge at the 2026 World Robot Conference (WRC) in Beijing.

The system achieved an average throughput of 1,911 parcels per hour, or about 1.88 seconds per parcel, while handling parcels of different sizes, shapes, materials and positions on a conveyor.

X Square founder and chief executive officer, Wang Qian said embodied AI requires a foundation model designed specifically for the physical world and that the company aims to develop a common intelligence foundation that can operate across different robots, tasks and physical environments.

In a statement, X Square said the challenge demonstrated the WALL-B system's ability to identify, grasp, orient and sort parcels continuously while correcting unsuccessful actions and adapting to changes on the conveyor, capabilities designed for commercial logistics operations.

At WRC, the company also demonstrated WALL-B across multiple robotic platforms and real-world tasks under its "one model, many applications" approach.

In a home environment, two-wheeled humanoid robots responded to spoken commands to organise household items, retrieve and deliver objects, clean, water plants and perform pet-related tasks. The robots used coordinated two-arm manipulation and obstacle avoidance to move between rooms and complete the requested tasks.

According to X Square, the exhibition builds on its efforts to deploy robots in real homes. In March, it partnered with Chinese local-services platform 58.com to launch a home-cleaning service, while in May it began placing robots with participating households through its "X Family Member Program".

The company also demonstrated a 22-degree-of-freedom, five-fingered dexterous hand performing a multi-stage fan-unboxing task, while a separate dual-arm system selected and arranged flowers based on natural-language instructions.

X Square said it will continue integrating AI models with robotic hardware as it expands into home, logistics and industrial applications.
