Gold Futures Snap Four-day Losing Streak To Close Higher On Better COMEX Performance

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher on Friday, snapping four consecutive days of losses, buoyed by a better performance on the US Commodity Exchange (COMEX).
Despite Friday's rebound, Quintex Intel global strategist Stephen Innes said it had been a tumultuous week for gold, with bullion remaining under pressure from the surge in global bond yields. "With the US 10-year yield above 5.0 per cent, this is a toxic backdrop for an asset that pays no interest," he told Bernama.
At the close, the spot-month September 2026 contract increased to US$4,292.40 per troy ounce from US$4,263.90 on Thursday, while October 2026 rose to US$4,308.30 from US$4,273.10.
The November 2026 contract went up to US$4,325.20 per troy ounce from US$4,289.80 on Thursday, while December 2026, February 2027 and April 2027 all increased to US$4,333.00 from US$4,297.60 previously.
Trading volume dropped to 162 lots from 268 on Thursday, while open interest went down to 222 contracts from 328 previously.
Physical gold was fixed at US$4,266.40 per troy ounce at the London Bullion Market Association's afternoon fix on Sept 24, 2026.
