ECRL Testing On Track, Board Members Assess System Readiness

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) — Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) has marked another positive milestone by holding two board committee meetings onboard the ECRL comprehensive inspection train (CIT) during a return trip from Gombak Integrated Terminal ECRL Station to the KotaSAS ECRL Station, Pahang.

In a statement today, MRL said the finance and technical committee and the board audit, risk and governance committee met onboard yesterday.

Committee members assessed the journey and the project’s progress under actual operating conditions, the statement said. The other positive development was speed consistency.

The Gombak-KotaSAS journey took about 85 minutes one way. The return journey took a similar duration. This demonstrates encouraging progress in the ECRL's testing and readiness phase, it said in a statement today.

MRL chief executive officer Datuk Seri Darwis Abdul Razak said the 85-minute Gombak-KotaSAS trip was a positive development.

"Board members were able to observe and experience the ECRL's performance first-hand while carrying out their responsibilities in the areas of finance, technical matters, audit, risk and governance," Darwis said.

This is important as the project is at the critical juncture transitioning from construction to operations.

"This is not only about speed or travel time. It is about ensuring that the entire system is safe, reliable and ready to serve the people," he said.

Testing, commissioning and operational preparations will intensify to ensure the system meets safety, technical and regulatory requirements.
