Gradiant Expands India Operations With Five Contracts, New Leadership

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Gradiant is expanding its operations in India with five new design-build contracts, the appointment of a new managing director and plans to increase its India workforce by more than 40 per cent this year.

The new contracts cover semiconductor, printed circuit board (PCB) and solar manufacturing, with Gradiant providing ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) systems.

“India is fast becoming one of the most important places to build the AI supply chain, from chips to circuit boards to solar cells,” said Gradiant Chief Executive Officer, Prakash Govindan in a statement.

He said a repeat award from a global chipmaker for its latest fab expansion was a strong endorsement of Gradiant’s capabilities, adding that the company was well positioned to serve as a water partner for India’s expanding manufacturing capacity.

The company said customers selected Gradiant for its water recovery capabilities, ZLD performance and speed of execution.

Gradiant has appointed Hari Prasad as Managing Director, India, to lead its growth across the semiconductor, data centre and energy sectors. Prasad brings nearly 30 years of experience in water technology, including senior roles across India, the Middle East and Africa.

To support the expansion, Gradiant plans to increase its India workforce across engineering, project execution, operations and digital roles, including at its Gradiant Engineering Center in Coimbatore, which supports projects globally.

“Our orders in India are on track to more than double this year, with revenue set to more than triple. A fab or a solar plant cannot run a single shift without water, and the ZLD rules here leave no room for shortcuts,” said Prasad.

Gradiant said the expansion comes as India accelerates semiconductor, electronics and clean energy manufacturing, increasing demand for reliable water supplies and ZLD solutions as key considerations alongside power and land.
