KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Alpha ESS Malaysia Sdn Bhd (AlphaESS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with DB Energy Sdn Bhd to collaborate on an integrated hybrid power supply system for an artificial intelligence (AI) data centre project in Bagan Datuk, Perak.

In a statement today, the company said that the strategic partnership will combine AlphaESS' battery energy storage technology and manufacturing capabilities with DB Energy's local project development and implementation expertise.

“The collaboration would focus on deploying an integrated captive hybrid power supply system, with battery energy storage playing a key role in supporting the data centre's power infrastructure,” it said.

AlphaESS general manager Zoe Zhang said Malaysia remained an important market, and the growing data centre sector is creating new requirements for reliable and flexible energy infrastructure.

"Our collaboration with DB Energy on the Bagan Datuk AI Data Centre project allows us to bring together our energy storage technology and manufacturing capabilities with strong local project expertise," she said.

The MoU was signed during the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2026, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Oct 7-9.
