Amova AM To Offer Global Investment Products Tailored To Malaysian Clients

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Amova Asset Management Co Ltd (Amova AM) plans to offer global investment products tailored to Malaysian clients, complementing those offered by AHAM Asset Management Bhd (AHAM Capital).

Amova AM is a global asset manager founded and headquartered in Japan.

Its president and chief executive officer, Stefanie Drews, said that after acquiring a 97.67 per cent stake in AHAM Capital, the company plans to make additional investments in AHAM Capital by establishing a global solutions centre.

She said the centre could house some of the solutions required to scale up Amova AM's global business.

“We are coming closer to them, sharing technologies, sharing approaches to artificial intelligence, sharing approaches to online and sharing products,” said Drews in a media engagement and networking session with AHAM Capital fund managers here today.

Amova AM has completed its acquisition of an additional 77.67 per cent equity interest in AHAM Capital on June 30, 2026, raising its ownership in the Malaysian asset manager to 97.67 per cent.

Meanwhile, AHAM Capital deputy managing director and chief fixed income officer Esther Teo said the company could leverage Amova AM’s investment capabilities to further strengthen its own investment expertise.

“We see a lot of opportunities to collaborate, whether it is on building capabilities or even introducing products and investment solutions, not just to the retail investors but also for the institutional business that we run,” she said.

Teo said AHAM Capital will focus on growing its wealth management business, particularly among high-net-worth individuals while continuing to serve the corporate, mass-affluent and retail market segments through different distribution channels.

“We are large in our corporate segment, which currently makes up about RM38 billion of our assets. This serves, for example, public listed companies and small and medium enterprises.

“Today, we manage about probably RM12 billion of wealth assets for high net worth individuals. It is still a lot of opportunity there, and that is an area of growth that we want to focus on,” she said.

Since beginning operations in 2001, AHAM Capital has served the wealth management needs of corporates, institutions, pension funds, high-net-worth individuals and retail investors through its investment solutions across equities, fixed income, multi-asset and alternative investments.

As at Aug 31, 2026, AHAM Capital and its subsidiaries had RM112 billion in assets under management across conventional and shariah-compliant strategies.
