JETRO Hosts Japanese Seafood B2B Trade Event In Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Kuala Lumpur will be holding the Japanese Seafood B2B Trade event to expand the country’s seafood exports.

JETRO said in a statement that the event is part of its initiatives under the Japan Food Export Platform.

It will be held at CHARR @ The Manor, in Persiaran Stonor, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, around the KLCC area, on Oct 26.

“Japanese seafood exports to Malaysia reached about 5 billion Japanese yen (100 yen=RM2.58) between January and August 2026, representing a 40 per cent increase compared with the same period last year. While the use of Japanese food products has expanded primarily among Japanese restaurants in Malaysia, their adoption by non-Japanese restaurants remains limited,” it said.

To further expand the market for Japanese seafood products in Malaysia, JETRO said it is essential to create opportunities for local buyers and non-Japanese food service operators to gain a deeper understanding of their quality and value, while also facilitating direct business discussions with importers and distributors.

“At the event, three local distributors handling Japanese seafood products will showcase their offerings and conduct business meetings with participating non-Japanese food service operators.

The event aims to encourage a wider adoption of Japanese seafood products among non-Japanese food service operators,” according to JETRO.
